Jesus says, “I am the Bread of life (John 6:35),” “I am the living water,” “I am the Light of the World (John 8:12),” “I am the Gate (John 10:9) and Good Shepherd (John 10:11, 14),” “I am the Resurrection and the Life (John 11:25),“ “I am the Way the Truth and the Life (John 14:6),” and “I am the True Vine (John 15:1,5).”

What does this mean?

Jesus said these statements to prove that He is who He says He is. What are things that we need and desire in life?
We need food to live. We need light and we need air. We desire guidance and direction. We desire to veer away from that which is fake and strive to know the truth. And we desire something that will last forever. In short, Jesus is saying, I am all you need.

I AM the comfort you need when your heart is broken.
I AM the bread and water when you are lacking food and drink.
I AM the ONLY way and I AM your guide. There is none other. (Psalm 23)

I AM the truest thing you seek.
I AM life and I AM the only thing that leads to eternal life.
I AM the light in the midst of this dark and broken world.

In the midst of the darkness, He shines the brightest.

This is what we taught in the city of Tororo. In an area where hunger strives and darkness seems to have no end. The women gathered to learn more about the Savior of the world. With a desire to end the trials they face and to have someone pray over them, they met the one who says, “Come to me all you who labor or are heavy laden and I will give you rest… for my yoke is easy and my burden is light (Matthew 11:28).” They met the one whom takes our burdens and gives us peace, joy and life. By the end of the four day teaching, eight women (that we know of) decided to seek the Light in the darkness. Five of which walked away from witchcraft and gave the items to be burned in the dirt. They ran to the one whom takes away the sins of the world.

We give God all the glory, honor and praise for how He is working in the lives of those in Tororo. I am unable to save them, however, I have the message of Life, and that is Jesus Christ. There is nothing that we can do to enter the gates of Heaven. It is only by the Blood of Jesus are we saved and able to enter. “By grace, through faith in the Son of God (Ephesians 2:8-9).”“If we confess with our mouth that “Jesus is Lord” and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9).” And ALL who call on the Name of the Lord WILL BE SAVED (Romans 10:13).

So let me ask you today, what do you desire most in this life? Is it money? Relationships? Health? Knowledge? Food? Run to the Great I AM. He is everything you need.

I can’t promise your problems will disappear, however, I can tell you that when you run and give it to Him through prayers and surrender, He will replace your burden with a lighter one.

“Cast all your cares on Him, for He cares for you.”
